Happy Lemons for Happy Days....

Happy people with smiling faces, Happiness is a glass of lemonade... It was our last week of summer, and that made for some happy days. I was informed by most of my children however that they do not like lemonade, and therefore that is not happiness. But we did have brownies, ice cream, and chocolate syrup for dinner one night. It was a long week, and I wasn't home for most of it. Too many meetings, and meetings, and meetings, and did I mention meetings? Here are some things that did bring us happiness on our last week before school.

Remember my husband doesn't know the word can't or don't. You can't run a mile with broken ribs, you can't pick up 20 marbles with your toes in under one minute, you can't hold 11 muffins in one hand. On this particular night it was you can't put the top of a milk jug in your mouth. Well apparently--he can!!
Last summer we rearranged our yard so we had less flower beds and more grass. We weren't able to get sod to fill in last year, but we finally got it done this year. Here is Dave filling in some spots. I think he just got tired of pulling out all the weeds all the time...
We planted a garden, both in our yard, and at the Stake Gardens. Here are some of the "fruits of our labor" I love these broiled in the oven with a little salt and oil--yum.
By the end of the week we were pretty exhausted. I talk about diabetes a lot on here because I'm of the mind that the more people know, the more they can be aware of others around them. Our little Adam had a scare the week before school. He was throwing up, and we couldn't get his blood sugars down. It was a long night, and finally by 1ish he was down in the 200's. I don't think I will ever get used to how quickly things can go down hill. It was just a matter of a couple of hours, and we were afraid we would end up in the hospital. We didn't thankfully. Hope you have a nice big glass of lemonade this week with lots of happiness.

Wake Me Up Before you Go-Go

Cause I'm not plannin' on going solo...This week Karen (Dave's sister) and her kids stayed with us and we played. The kids were up early almost every day and we partied it up at lots of different places. Here were a few...
Riding trax down to Temple Square. We went on the new line which had just opened and left from Herriman.
Down at Temple Square
Pizza Pie Planet Place (I really don't know the name, I just know all those words are out front). It's in Draper and we got a deal through City Deals for it. We also had tickets for unlimited rides. That was a ton of fun. So after a few rides we'd got eat, then ride, then eat...well you get the picture.
Shopping!! Karen tried on an apron, it was a little big. Actually they were really cute and we each bought one. Now that I think about it, mine is still with the other stuff I bought from Tai Pan in the trunk of the car. I forgot to bring it in and that was two weeks ago!!  Oh, I can't wait to show Dave.
Open practice at BYU. So I know we've been down on campus quite a few times. We can't ever move out of Utah, where would we go for fun? It was great to watch them throw the ball arouond, but I can't wait until we can show our stuff on the field.

Lots of fun times this week, but my kids were heartbroken to say good-bye to their cousins. We wish they lived closer so we could play more often, because it's not as much fun going solo!

We Are Family

Get up ev'rybody and Sing....It was the Brueck Family Reunion and boy did we do a lot of stuff. We headed up to the cabin Sunday night--in the poring rain. We had brought up a trailer, so that was exciting. All of our stuff made it through okay except my bag of clothes, and some games we had thrown in at the last minute. Good thing there's a washer and dryer up there.
Shakes anyone? Monday it rained so we made use of that time by showing our family around and getting shakes.
We also got some huge pizzas. Those didn't last very long.
We love the sand. The water was up so high we didn't have very much of it. But we at least found enough to build a couple of castles.
We played in the water a lot. On a couple of days we rented wave runners. Dave was thrown off one of them and injured himself, I'll let you guess where (review previous posts)

Great family reunion with a little bacon taste testing, minute to win it, FHE lesson on getting to know you, and a baby born all thrown in. We welcomed a new niece/cousin/granddaughter while we were there. (don't worry she was born in the hospital not at the cabin)

I Want a Wedding in a Big Church

With Bridesmaids and Flower Girls....It was wedding week this week. My brother Jef got married to Erinn Folkerson or Elphie. It was quite the production, and although it was fabulous, I think I've met my quota for weddings for the year!!!
While Rachael was off to Girl's Camp for the week, we partied it up. Another fabulous celebration with our neighbors down the road despite the wind and rain.
Manis and Pedis anyone? This was our Girl's Night out. Mine are bright blue.
Jon, Lauren, and Ryan came into town. The kids love to hang out with their uncles, aunts and cousins.
Wedding day! We had the wedding in the mid morning, lunch in the afternoon, and then the reception right after. By the end we were exhausted. I can't imagine how the bride and groom felt!
Another trip down to BYU. They've painted the columns blue on LaVell Edwards Stadium which we had to check out for ourselves. Any guesses on which building this is by?

It's Not About the Money, Money, Money

We just wanna make the world dance, forget about the price tag... I am a week behind, and I apologize for that. It's not about the money, it's about the good time we had as a family. Here are some of the things we did a couple of weeks ago.
Nate went to cub scout camp. Look at the awesome sword he made.
Adam went to football camp. We missed the last day and he was so sad because they played an actual game.
We went up to Bear Lake for a bit. The water is so high. We are having a family reunion up here, and had to figure out where to go to the beach. This is what happened to the peanut M&M's on the way up. They melted and froze, and melted. It was just gross.
Nathan getting a tan under the station.
We had a pioneer activity. It was a ton of fun, we dressed up, and threw cow pies. Real ones.
